Didn't see any, but didn't ask either. They sell the brass tubing that may be used to mint collars, but were out of the size needed to mint washers. They had the slightly larger 3/32", but, I figured I'd pass. The guy I asked said he restocks the stuff once every 1 or 2 weeks, so there should be some more in some time soon. They also carry 1/16" aluminum and stainless steel rod. I picked up some of that while I was at it.

Thanked: 2Vlad has posted pics of a jig made up to make washers from the thin tubing. I believe it's based on Bill Ellis' cd. The hobby stores should have the 1/8th tubing along with the appropriate size tubing to make a washer.
If you don't have 1/8th bar and larger tubing, I do. I can send you enough to pin one razor. I've used a belt sander to sand off the end of the pin to save the washers from a big W&B.

Thanked: 8Even in this neck of the woods I've found modelling shops stock all sorts and sizes of brass rod, tubing etc.. They even have 1/16" nuts and bolts etc..now imagine a micro nut/bolt/washer arrangement at the pivot point ?. Hmmm...

Fellas, I had the pleasure of meeting Vlad on a trip to Montreal to watch the Grand Prix of Canada. His talents and ingenuity go beyond what we see in his gorgeous scales and boxes. He is truly a resourseful man when it comes to making his own tools and jigs. I was very impressed. His humility and generosity were appreciated, especially since I was alone in a foreign country.
The amount of work that goes into a set of scales or box is staggering. I got to see how he polishes out the pitting on razors. All with elbow grease and a LOT of patience. We chatted it up for hours and I had dinner with his family. He truly is an asset here on SRP. I believe he is modest when he says anyone can do what he does - maybe some of us could make scales that are marginally acceptable - not Vlad quality!! I appreciate the beauty of his creations even more now. It's too bad it would be a logistical nightmare for many of us to meet at one place. It would be great to BS with you guys over some beers.
Thanks again Vlad.

Stot, nice job on the scales and the post was a pleasure to track from the $10 ebay win to the end results. I am a big fan of the Kingswood wood and you did them justice.

Thanked: 8I think I'm doing well with some of my scales... then I see another example of Vlad's work.
Having a peer in anything that you do is great motivation. You know it's possible.
I'm happy though that I can make something better than a factory or stock item.
