Default Final wax finish on CA glue necessary?

So... after much reading on the many CA threads, I am unable to see any references to having just a highly buffed/polished CA finish with no wax topcoat. That is - unless my eyes and fatigue are deceiving me.

I have multiple coats of CA on my first set of hand-shaped scales and have done all of my sanding so that the shiny spots are all but gone. So my questions are as follows: Can I put a final finish on them by sanding to a higher and higher grit? I have to micromesh pads that go up to 12000 grit. Will that work, or is it necessary to apply a wax finish? Is there any downside to not putting a wax topcoat on - such as degradation of the finish over time?

Thanks for the advice. And if this has already been covered, my apologies.

Yeah, you can get a high gloss finish with micro mesh. After 12000 rub some polishing compound into a cloth, then rub the scales on the cloth if you want to make it a bit glossier.

You can wax it if you want, I don't think I've waxed superglue myself. I don't think it can hurt anything, and might give an extra layer of protection.

Ah... the link that I have referred to so many times in the last few days/couple of weeks that I feel I may have burned images into my screen. Haha. I was just curious if the glue - when left exposed without any additional treatment would show any weaknesses after a while. Might as well go with the wax finish. Better to be safe than sorry, right? Well - thanks a ton, on my way to do some sanding. This continues to be a wonderful and patient community that is willing to deal with all of the silly questions that newbies like me bring.

PS Glen - I have watched your youtube channel so many times in preparation of my first feeble attempts at honing... I'm excited to try to finish my project from junker to shaver! Thanks for helping all of the great info, and for providing an avenue for the do-it-yourselfers to teach themselves.
