    Every other diagram I've ever seen called the "tang" part the shank, and the "long tang or tail" the tang, too.

    Using the term 'shank' instead of tang is also correct. Using the term 'tang' instead of tail is correct too. I made the diagram for my cd update and forgot to say "Tang or Shank". Thanks for spotting that.
