G10 and heat - just a heads-up
I was making a set of scales in g10 with a g10 wedge, and brass liners. Had the wedge nicely shaped and peened, was working on shaping the brass liners to size with my dremel. Everything lined up very nicely, the wedge gave a nice spread and all was looking on the up. Had the other end lined up and bolted with a screw and nut, to make sure nothing got out of alignment as I was working.
Knowing that G10 has a high heat resistance, I did not mind it getting a little hot. When I later removed the screw and nut, the scales had altered shape. The spread was almost gone, the scales were now almost parallel. Luckily they were not ruined, the damage was minimal so I went ahead and used them anyways. But still, the heat definitely had altered them.
Next time I'm working with brass liners on G10 I'll certainly use a spacer between the scales, to make sure they maintain their shape.
Sorry, no pics - my very old camera went on a permament strike last week and the new one still has not arrived, so it can't be helped.

Thanked: 3795"G10: An extremely durable makeup of layers of fiberglass soaked in resin, then highly compressed and baked. Impervious to moisture or liquid and physically stable under climate change. Most commonly black, but is available in various colors, too."
