Warning may cause you to cry...
So I had found this WB that was in fairly decent shape except for the oversized hole which I thought I would use JB weld then drill out a 1/16" hole. All was going well when I thought I would spin it a bit on the polishing wheel. flew out my hand when I became distracted and put the chip in the edge...
It went from just under 8/8 to just over 6/8 after I ground it down to even out the edge."We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

Ouch! Stuff does happen as we begin working on restorations. I have tossed more than one mistake.

Sorry for your loss, however you have managed to get the blade back to looking good (minus 2/8).
Just about to embark on a similar restore with an old W&B.

Thanked: 2591Oversized holes are easily corrected by sleeving with brass tubing. Also they are not necessarily a problem when pining the razor, you can try before pining with 1/16 screw, to check if the razor will close well.
All that being said sorry about the way things went down with your razor.Stefan

Well I have to be grateful that at least I could save it...
I like the idea of being able to JB weld. solid stuff and the hole will be perfect. I just want a little bit more then 1/16" to stay center in the scales.
I wish it would be my last but that would be unrealistic! like I said though it could have been worse, I saw one on here that broke into three pieces!!!"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm."

Any moment one uses a power tool it's like driving a car. An accident can happen anytime. Total concentration at all times. It's a good thing you didn't get hurt in the process.

Bummer, but we've all done it.
You're less likely to catch the edge of you're blade if you build a magnetic jig to hold the blade flat. I use a piece of bicycle inner tube under the blade as well. Of course when you freehand the bits you can't reach be very focused. The white gleam of swords, not the black ink of books, clears doubts and uncertainties and bleak outlooks.
