It seems a highly valid workshop thread, for I approve very much of those little metal collars, and the fear of collarless or washerless riveting is a ise caution. There is a big difference in crackability between new ivory and old.
In fact there could be a lot to be said for making the collars integral with the large internal friction washers, and epoxy them to the scales.
