Default Question about a Dubl Duck

I just picked up a Dubl Duck Dwarf at a local antique shop for around $8.00. I bought it with the knowlwdge of the blade being damaged. It's broke on the toe end, about 1/2 the way up the blade and 1/4"back so, if you can imagine a piece shaped about a triangle missing. Other than that the blade needs to be cleaned up and in in amazing shape. My question is, I'm thinking of having the broken part lopped off and cleaning it up and using it as a shorty. Is this even feasable?

At worse, the scales are in beautiful shape and can be salvaged. I'm just looking for some feedback.

    Thanks,
    Ron
