Thread: Question about a Dubl Duck

I cut down a Wade and Butcher that had a crack in the end of the blade. I just used a Dremel cutting wheel and set the blade on an ice cube to keep it cool as I cut. Then I re-shaped the end on a grinder keeping the ice handy to chill the blade as it got a little hot.

That's not too bad of a break; cut her down, polish her up and don't forget the pics.

If I'm reading your description correctly, it sounds like you could cut a barbers notch into it, that way you wouldn't have to shorten the blade. Whatever you decide to do, let us know how it turns out. Good luck.

Thats a hell of an idea with the ice cube. I'll definately use it in the future!

Post a pic of the blade as it is currently and we can give you more accurate information.

I love the idea about the ice cube, haven't thought about that...would work wonderfully as a heat sink.

That's an easy fix, just shorten like you were thinking. At all cost, don't let the steel get hot to the touch. Use the ice cube idea and take your time. Then it's easy to shorten the scales at the pivot end and you are ready to put it to use.
