I usually use the small flat bit on the back of my bench vise as an anvil.

I live in an apartment. So I don't have any sort of workshop here.

There's an anvil downstairs in the basement that I could try using though.

Just stumbled across this and your diagram kicks ass! I absolutely love the visual representation of "tap gently".

Great illustration, Gary. I'd like to get Bill's CD myself someday, but I don't think it will run on my Apple computer. The pinning info is really all I need at this point.

    From Bill's website:

If you have a Mac, let me know because I will have to burn a special copy for your machine that Mr. Joe Pate converted for me to be used by you folks.
So it seems he does have a Mac-compatible version available.

Is that 1/16th Hollow rod or Solid rod? I could not figure that out from Bill's CD either. I bought both so I would have it. I also got a 3/64 th Solid rod that would actually fit in the 1/16 th Hollow rod just in case and Fasteners from Microfasteners.com for the tang

In Bill's cd when he says 1/16" brass TUBE he means ROD. Any 1/16" piece is hollow.

Could you clarify that? Your statements seem to contradict. I consider rod to be solid and a tube to be hollow. If Bill meant ROD, then why did you write any 1/16" piece is hollow?
