My sympathies. Hug your daughter and move on. Chalk it up to the Dad Life. "Dad Life"

Yep. Keep a couple of razors with rust on them and give them to her the day her first child is born as a reminder to keep her temper in check and what is really important in front of her.

As a parent and grandparent you have all my sympathy, been there and done that in oh so many ways. The hardest part is knowing that whatever she did, she did in a spirit of childlike love, joy and innocence. To put it in its proper perspective, now may be a good time to talk to your father, he may have a story of his own to tell.

Wow, that is a bummer. Well the silver lining around the dark cloud is that you are going to be a far more experienced restorer than you would have been had you noticed the spill earlier.

Ugh, ugh, ugh. Thank goodness my daughter is 42 and out of the house, my mother is afraid of razors and I am single with no one to mess with my stuff for any reason.

Now is the time for sandpaper/double sided tape on a 2" diameter felt wheel with 1/4 arbor into a long Harbor Freight Dremel type extension secured in a 3 jaw chuck on a 1750 rpm motor.

    Tough break,

Well... Unbeknownst to me, a little over a week ago my four year old daughter poured her soda in the bin. (I haven't been able to establish why)

All of the blades were coated in red rust - all 92 of them. I used a product to convert the red rust to black, and gave them all a once over with some fine steel wool to knock the gunk off.

The good news is that the rusting is all stopped.

The bad news is that every blade is covered in devil's spit and pitted deeply enough to not buff out easily. Everything etched is going to lose the etching. Some of the full hollows are going to have to keep some pitting. Blades that were finished to polishing stage are going to need to go back to the low grits.

I don't think any of them are totally destroyed, but there are a lot that will never be the same again.
man i feel for you and understand the pain. Last year we had a new puppy and she peed upstairs. 24 hours later i found it had leaked through the floor directly onto my workbench where i had half a dozen newly ground razors...... You thought soda was corrosive....... Shake it off and keep on man.
    Respectfully,
    Adam.

I dont know why my 4 year old son does half the destructive stuff he does. I guess its just fun. Thats such a huge tragedy though, hope you get over it soon.
