What are your opinions?

I would get that blade fixed by a professional.

Thanked: 993I'd try to modify the heel....that is where the crack is...correct? I thought i saw a stabilizer in the picture.
Provided that it's not huge in length....somebody could probably modify it. Make it a 8/8 on the toe and a smile back to a 6/8 or 7/8 on the heel.

I had a Wade & Butcher that had a crack in just about that same location. I made this
modification.

Thanks guys, when I thought of cutting/grinding it out, this is the first shape that came to mind...
So between sixgun's and my edits, WHICH professional wants to tackle it?

Thanked: 993I personally prefer glen's edit. It keeps more of the stabilizer intact, and you could round off the smile. It would look like it's been way overhoned for 100 years.
With your edit, by looking at it, you KNOW it's been modified.
Not saying either is right or wrong....just giving my opinion.

Thanked: 993If I did it, there would be a large risk of more cracks!
I have much less experience modifying blades than some other folk around here.

Personally, I like Walts take on it, I have done this and there is plenty of spine and wedge left to support the edge, an added benefit is the little bit of flex the edge will have. Have fun!
