Thanked: 7Jumbojohnny, thanks for the heads up on Masecraft. I've heard nothing but good about these people. I've been calling for a few days now, but apparently the early snowstorm has caught them off guard and the phone systems are down. I tried calling again this morning but both numbers just keep ringing through without answer. I'm persistant, so I'll keep trying. In the meantime I've located what I think may be the sole manufacturer of faux tortoise shell product in the United States. Her name is Colette Hanson from Bloomington, Indiana, and from what I understand she makes a very believable epoxy faux tortoiseshell product called Tor-tis for the luthier suppliers. Her product is very thin and not suitable for razor handles but I understand that she is very workable and has/will produce 1/8" thick pieces. I also understand that she can duplicate natural shell patterns to your specification. I have yet to contact her, but when I do I will pass the information along in this thread for all.
