Default would sisal wheel be better.

I just got my sewn wheel and compounds and i am making progress on the razor. But i have an old sisal wheel that is much firmer, would that be a better choice for a greaseless compound?

For the greaseless, I prefer the spiral sewn. They are a bit "slower" in their cutting power, as they are softer. Easier to fix and prevent mistakes.

I have recently become a fan of sisal wheels on the Tripoli, Emery, and Chromium buffing compounds.

I don't know how much buffing experience you have, but if I were you I'd stay with the spiral wheels on the greaseless compounds.

    Caswell has nice wheels.

I have a couple different types. One is a 4" diameter, by a 1/2" width. This is a good wheel in my opinion. The gentlemen who runs Caswell in Ontario, Canada sent me some 4" wheels that are 1" wide on my first order, as he didn't have any of the 1/2" in stock. These are the ones I love. They are about $1 more per wheel, and are just great to work with.

I also have the 6" diameter spiral sewn, at 1" wide. I like them a lot too.
