Thanked: 0Can this be fixed
Can this be fixed or is it a letter opener now? It is a 11/16 blade that is an extra hollow grind with the damage reaching about half way up the secondary bevel (?) of the blade.

Thanked: 334fahnreich:
I respectfully suggest you peruse the Wiki for the appropriate funeral rites...these include esoteric incantations uttered by yourself while a dirge plays in the background and Hooter's waitresses pile Hot Wings at your feet.

Photos can be very deceiving on a chipped edge. You can always send it to one of the restoration pros on this forum to evaluate. The most you loose is shipping to & back. She seems like a nice blade.

It can be honed out, but the blade will of course be quite a bit smaller, and from what it looks like in the pic there might also need to be done some work on the heel/stabilizers.
It can be hard to judge frome a picture, but if it is as deep as it looks I would call it off and rather spend my money on another razor unless it got some special value to you.Need help or tutoring? Check out the .

Thanked: 334I honestly think Zephyr has the right idea. Sorry, but I think your razor is toast.

I'm surprised nobody has brought up the 'B' word. I'd hone it and give it to someone who likes smaller blades.

Thanked: 88As others have said, it can be made to shave, but is likely to run into the stabilizer and will be narrow.

Thanked: 13249Just so long as there are no stress cracks radiating from the chip, yes it will come right out...
Since there is no way to add steel back YET it means you have to hone it out and that the edge will be set back to the bottom of the chip if you do it right..
The heel will need a recontour also, basically you are adding decades of use to the razor so everything has to equal out...
How you get to the bottom of that chip and re-contour the entire edge is the only question, also if the blade is a double hollow grind you will change the feel as you will get into the belly of the blade.. It really doesn't matter as the blade is trash now so "Go For It"...
From your pm, I am not sure if that answered all the questions...
