    Walnut is plenty nice! I don't think you want to deal with the numerous difficulties of burl wood right now, it can be tricky! I say figure out your design and make a cutout to find the best looking grain for the shape. I like it at an angle, myself. Maybe 20-30* from parallel to the spine.

    But there is plenty of good advice early on in this thread!

    I was looking at my piece of walnut and saw a nice grand line that would look great at an angle.. Definitley gonna do that!!!
