Gary, I like the stud but why not have both? You could use a stud on your high end razors and an etched logo on all your blades.
The etching is quite simple and does not require much in terms of equipment. A low voltage transformer (12.6 volt, 3 amp, center-tapped so you get 12.6 and 6.3 volts) from Radio Shack $10. A bridge rectifier, $2, so you can use DC for deep etching and AC for marking, etching solution about $10, deep etch pads $1 each, a hand held etching electrode (I use graphite, $30 for 1"x6"x6" that I cut into 1x2x2). A variable voltage power supply is nice to have but not essential because it runs about $400. The prices are approximate and you may find the parts cheaper.
The only thing you need to come up with is a logo. I can make the etching stencil for you. So you'll be all set.
The rest is just a bit of practice, not rocket science. If you are interested let me know and I can post more details.

If you were to use a stud I would be placing it under the shank at the start of the heal so it dosn`t stand out but would be a discreet identifier ,personally I wouldn't`t do it ,but thats just me,but if I was going to do it thats where I would place it.
For what its worth ,just putting in my two bob
Kind regards Peter
