This is true.
As an experiment the other day, I tried painting in a blade etch with enamel then sanding off the excess -- it looked wonderful.
One swipe with the Maas and every speck of the paint was gone. The acid etch remained just fine though, and always has. Really vigorous polishing on broad, solid darkened etch patches might lighten some, but they're usually relatively durable.-Zak Jarvis. Writer. Artist. Bon vivant.

thank you everyone. I was just curious if the "frosting" is an actual etch or if it sits above the metal similar to gold wash. I've never actually had a razor like the one I have no so I wanted to be sure.
