The metal would be very interesting, but you would need a different kind of laser with some where in the area of 300W or more. $XXX,XXX.OO , not in the budget this year.
But the wood veneers might just work. Only concern would be the effect of the heat on the glue, possible separation problem.
Now I have something else to put on my to do list.
