    AirColorado,

I haven't used it in a while, but I did use it on 2 or 3 blades for restore. It worked well, but I believe it will damage the motor. I would not recommend it for heavy usage. After 45min to an hr of usage, I had to give the buffer a break. It def seemed to be overheating.

    Regards,

    JC

I have yet to destroy a blade with sandpaper, but a buffer is a whole other frustrating story!

My sisal wheel will do that from time to time. I just trim off the stuff and it is good for quite awhile. I really like the aggressiveness of the sisal as a first step in polishing.

I have been using 3 inch wheels with my 2, Taiwan, 3600 rpm buffers for a few years without a problem, hold the razor bare handed and cool the razor in water as soon as you feel heat.

My 1800 rpm Baldor also uses 3 inch wheels and I still have to cool in water. They both heat up and they both work… well.

Buy 3 inch wheels and don’t worry about it. Heat is a by-product of buffing.

Thanks JC. I tend to gt distracted between workstations in my shop so I leave things running. Sounds like I should avoid it after all.
