It is a disease. I thought I would just need one for shaving and then that would be it. Now I'm diving into restoration and looking for all kinds of other razors. Insanity.

I now look at Ebay and Etsy to see if I can find any deals. I guess you have no choice , but to learn to restore since restored shave ready razors cost quite a bit compared to ones that need some TLC. Plus I have a burning desire now for certain styles or specific makers of straight razors. I have a Joseph Rodgers full hollow and a Joseph Smith near wedge and the madness is growing. My passion now is to get a large size chopper from any of the Sheffield makers and an ERN Ator. I don't have a burning passion for the German razors except for the ERN Ator. The look of this and style make it my favorite straight razor. Now I only have to find one to bid for or most likely buy from a seller. For me this razor is better than Dubl Ducks, Puma, and Henckels. Madness.

I have some hobby shops in my area so I'll check there for the rods. Thanks for the tips guys. Also, I may take some of you up on the offer for washers if I don't have any luck. I have read about Micro Fasteners, but how exactly do they differ from a basic rod and washer setup? I heard somewhere that they can come loose and you need to apply locktite? Am I over simplifying pinning by saying you only need 4 washers, 2 on the inside scale on either side of the razor and 2 on the outside of the scales. Insert rod and cut it to within 1/16 0r 1/32 of the outside washer and start peening with a hammer. Essentially flattening it around the outside washer? Of course repeat around wedge side? This begs the question why the wedge side needs a pin if you crazy glue the wedge in the scales. Is it for looks or to be able to maybe replace wedge or scales at a later time (possible dumb question)?

This is the deal I keep looking at Straight Razor Pinning Kit 1 16" Nickel Silver Rod Pins 40 x 1 8" SS Washers | eBay. How does this compare with the microfastener product?

Quality wise I do not know,

    for $17.30 I get 200 outer washers and 100 inner/ spacers shipped.

The brass rod runs me $1.75 per 24" piece so for around $21 I have enough to do 50 standard razors.

I just performed a Ebay search. Here is another option......
Straight Razor Pin 20mm with Washers 10 Sets Razor Pin Restoration Repair | eBay

    and another

Straight Razor Washers Pins Brass | eBay

Straight Razor Nickel Silver Pins and Washers SS | eBay

The last set of razors I pinned were done with escutcheon pins #16 by 1" and eyelets 1/16th hole, 3/32 od on shaft. These worked just fine but the eyelets might require you to use a 3/32 drill bit and drill out the hole in the scales to fit. The eyelets are also a bit long so they will need to be sanded down to length. They are also inexpensive.
    Just some ideas.
I suggest you take up the kind offer from one of the guys here.
