    Question Sourcing exotic scale materials

Hi, I'm trying to source exotic scale materials, in particular mammoth ivory.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the UK (or that will ship to the UK) such materials in either in raw form or preferably as a blank?

My search so far hasn't come up with much, I'm relatively new to restoring straights and have so far only used whatever I can find on eBay!

Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

Most places sell pieces that are to short to use for scales, if I ever lay my hands on the guy cutting it up, grrr!

In the UK I have dealt with both Highland and RobbsBits on Ebay
Bone and Horn Flat Pieces, White Mother of Pearl items in Pietra Dura Etcetera store on eBay!
It is worth emailing him to get exactly what you want.after finding an item in the catalog on line.

I can get mammoth in any size,BUT this stuff is not easy to work with,a great set of Gem quality mammoth scales (not the crap you see in the brownish colors) but in the blues and greens, will cost you no less than $600.00 for one set of scales.
You want to see and buy the best of the best in mammoth? take a trip to the tucson AZ gem show, runs for a month.
The Russians will be there as they control the world market,Bring lots of cash gold or diamonds, they do not do paypal.

A link to this arrived from Nat Geo today and I thought you guys might be interested in seeing where some of this stuff comes from:

32t, pixelfixed and gooser like this.

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.
