Are the scales horn? If so, sometimes a steaming as in the Wiki will help to straighten the shorter side. That solved the problem with a couple 1850s Sheffield's. If the razor has been lying on its side win a damp environment it will also twis or lengthen one scale.

You can do this with bone too! I did this just today ... you took the words right out of my ... erm .. fingers

the last 2 i put scales on had warped tang/spine .. one was easily tapped over , the other i couldnt so i took it back apart and put a flattened washer on the side that was rubbing and a non flattened washer on the other side and was then able to center through tapping ...

Had an old Wostie pipe razor that had a bent tang fixed using the vise method in wiki.
