    Default Scales / CA Finish

Well here are the scales I was making for my pride and joy BEFORE this: http://straightrazorpalace.com/show-...6385-crap.html

Needless to say I was NOT happy, but alas with talking it through with you guys here I am feeling a little bit better.

I decided to try the CA finish on the scales I made.
NOTE: The blade in them is NOT the blade that is going to be used. (This is why it is held in only with a green paperclip)

Just wanted to see how they would look.

    Thanks for looking!

Not bad at all Ed - nice finish, too. Everyone has different approaches, and I would have progressively narrowed the scales the nearer they got to the pivot, but hey, that's just me. Rivets look cool, too.

    Regards,
    Neil

    THANKS Neil!
I see what you are saying!
I actually LOVE to re-pin stuff...
It calms me all the tap tap tapping...

The original blade was bigger and I was going for the MANLY look.

It just doesn't look the same now....Name: IMG_0504.jpg

CA is cool stuff and a pain in the rear to work with if u ask me. Scales look nice ED!

Edit: +1 on what Neil said. A taper would give a stream line look and make honing / striping more comfortable.

Thanks JoeLowett... I didn't find it too bad to work with. Read some of the tips and tricks gssixgun posted and it went pretty well.

That's nice !!....I like the contrast between the wood and the wedge
Are the scales Bocote or a Maple variety ?
Those pins'n'washers are super sweet too.

only real issue i have to complain about was i had everything glued to everything ..lol.. i ended up folding little pieces of paperplate and putting the 2sided tape ( the thicker type) on the plate that way i could hold the plate and pick up each scale and apply the glue on one side and the edges , worked out good and kept me and everything else super clean !!
