Cell rot gives off nitric acid so you could give the other blades a wipe with baking soda solution to neutralize, then oil.
One time, in band camp, I shaved with a Gold Dollar razor.

Cell Rot can cause really serious pitting incredibly fast. If you don't have pitting you should be able to restore it to as new condition again.

And what abot the scales bolsters and inlays? Is it safe to re-use them?
I also have another set of DD Satinedge scales that came in the same package with the "infected" set, is it a goner aswell? How can I know if its safe to use it or not? the scales transparency is pretty yellow though...

Thanked: 1184It's the rotting celluloid that does the damage. Everything else can be cleaned and restored. I keep all my Ducks under quarantine for a couple of weeks before I let them fly with the rest of the flock. Contrary to popular belief, Ducks hate water and sun. Keep em cool and dry :<0) At least you caught it in time and can save the metal.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.
