Wow it has been a while since I even looked at this thread. Shaving now has gotten better since I've had more time to learn. But as to the original pics with the setup that I was using it is really easy to find the exact same spot on something as linear as a bevel. But what helped me out so much was those identifying deep stria that I never removed in my progression. I was using a standard binocular laboratory microscope with a movable stage. That's why I could find the same spot all 7 times.

Thanked: 246Actually a lot of the time when I use a scope, I'll set up a little blade fixture so I can get the exact same place under the scope every time. It's not super necessary if your honing is consistent along the edge, but it's always nice to see the exact same place progressing along.
