As long as you add in a whole lot of wasted time or don't want very flat stones. You have an awfully high opinion of yourself.

Dear me Googly - can't take a joke?! You will be deleting some of your own posts soon, won't you?

I'd say I was taking it along just fine until it apparently became a bit too much for you to bear. No worries, I can leave you if you can't handle it. Let me know which posts you would like me to remove.

Hello all, first time poster, long time minutia debater. Saw that one of ya'll posted a link to my blog, and couldn't resist.

Here is the low down from my years with my stones. I had 2 stones, and rubbing them together did not work at keeping them flat. They may have been sidewalk flat, but not a real true, near perfect

Welcome to our domain, I invite you to try out straight razor shaving and I will be happy to help you out in anyway that I can.

Wet shaving with straight razors on this sub-forum is the one thing we all have here in common, amongst others, but obviously there are alot of other topics that we all jockey with and comment upon. As you can read the passion into these posts, please take it as a positive note.

Maybe the single person with the most years of straight razor shaving experience here might in reality only have taken it up 40 or maybe 50 years ago. It dosn't seem like there is a whole lot to it, just sharpen and shave, but in reality many of us are all still learning about honing and shaving, and about how to get along with each other.

Your posts here have already made a difference.

    Best wishes,
    Alex Gilmore

There you go again - inferring two things that were not implied by me, ie (a) I can take it as you well know, and (b) I did not infer that I wanted any posts removed, I simply referred to your tedious habit of removing posts willy-nilly.

This has gone beyond stupid now, so either PM me if you want to continue it or better still post in the mentor-only forum so that others may be spared our childish carryings-on.

You know fully well if anything we have been way too lenient with your posts and should have deleted a lot more than we have.

No posts are removed willy-nilly and you should have learned by now that when your personal dislike for me or any other staff member clouds your judgement enough that you start destructively attacking how we do our jobs you have crossed a line.

This particular direction of this thread is now over.

Being Insulting and Demeaning solves nothing,,

The write ups on this are available from a multitude of sources, if they are all wrong I would be the first to say so, and that Ivan was right because at SRP we take nothing at face value...

Hopefully we will have enough of one type of stone at the Denver meet to test the theories with multiple people and try and sort it out I wish this had come up a week ago as we had about 4 Norton 1k's at that meet and plenty of people that were willing to try experimenting ...

Ivan I hope you test it also, since it is after all your claim, this exact discussion has taken place on quite a few forums for Woodworkers, Tool & Knives, and even Mechanics boards.. So far nobody I found in all that reading has proved that 2 stones will lead to Flat Surfaces...

I said I will the next time I have near me two similar relatively soft hones like the naniwas. I don't have any coticule or escher that is not flat and I am not going to purposefully change that just for an illustration. The naniwas are great for this because they get off flat all the time.
If I still have a norton somewhere it's the 4/8 combo so it doesn't help much.

The test outlined in post 116 above is pretty simple. It will tell you if you got the two hones flat or spherical.
