Nice setup! You've got me thinking about putting something similar together. We may all be developing MAD now. (magnification acquisition disorder)

I'm still messing around with the EyeClops (100x and patches through to the TV) as well as the Radio Shack portable, loupe, headgear, as well as an in-place big magnifying glass with a base. I've decided that 100x is too close-in for edges - it just frustrates me! The edge can be exceptionally sharp and smooth but looks like hell under that magnification level. I won't stop using them of course :-) but it does make for some interesting viewing. I guess it just takes some time to adjust to seeing all the scratches at that magnification level and accepting that they're acceptable.

The goal is to get it to not look like hell at 100x!

BTW, they do sell the shop scope I use also in 25x and 50x versions.

I am inspired by this thread and have been looking for the ideal microscope.

The guy selling the scope Seraphim has says it isn't suitable for my needs. I will wait until he gives us some more feedback.

After looking at a lot of scopes. I think I found a few that might make it for us:

    1.3mp USB Super Microscope 10-200X Video +Still Details - eBay (item 110442666536 end time Dec-05-09 00:56:34 PST)

    Dino-Lite Digital Magnifier Microscope(AM411ST) w/Stand - eBay (item 300269296791 end time Nov-21-09 13:24:47 PST)

    digital microscope - BigC

I wanted to get everyone's thoughts before committing.

interesting, but razors tend to be opaque and trans illuminating scopes don't work for our purposes.

The University of WI sells surplus items, but I see none that meet my needs

You can see in my first post that I had to jack up the scope on blocks to be able to get the razor under there, and to set it at an angle to look at the edge, not just the bevel.

Other than that, I have no complaints whatsoever with the scope. The camera is a bit low resolution for my likes, but that's just for showing off here, anyhow.

I really think the AM451 is going to be the way to go, but I have to convince myself it is worth the money.
