Question: I gather from your description that you're not using slurry from the honzan in the final (pre-water) step, but rather you're creating the last slurry from a (tomo)nagura that may or may not be related to the honzan - in this case, not. Is there a reason that you didn't raise this last slurry directly from the honzan? In other words, why use a tomonagura softer than the base stone in the last slurry step?

    Again - great job!
    Steve,
my only reason to use tomonagura is my honzan is similar in hadness to my bease stone, and takes forever to raise a good slurry.
