I am assuming you mean the engraving bit, I should I suppose qualify that statement, if you can freehand nicely then all well and good, but the letter size, spacing and forms really aren't very consistent or well executed.

GD 200 208 100 and 66 are 6/8, the 800 is I believe 7/8 and supposed to be stainless. Theres a few others out there made in china for others like the bakkus, the titan as well as others. Supposed to be vg10 steel.

GDs are typically 13/16ths, maybe they are being a little generous with the 7/8ths measurement. Very nice pictures, one of the grind would be a tell if it's a GD or not.

Can't see it...next time copy and paste the pictures from the listing, otherwise the link won't work after so long.

I don't get it either, essentially a master craftsman and he finishes off is work with an amateurish scribble. It doesn't fit.

    Hmmmmm

Beauty should follow function, this is one principle that should always be kept in mind when doing custom work..

Not really so sure of the functionality of the cuts into the side of the spine,,

In your opinion (without actually honing it, of course) could those cuts become problematic during honing - perhaps catching on the side of the stone or causing the blade to come of the stone since there is a moment when there is no contact between the spine and the stone at the edge of the stone?

Also, is there any function to any spine work, or is it all just decoration? The only thing I can think of is making the blade lighter, if that is a concern/goal of yours.

    thanks a lot
