Ebay returns
I have noticed on some ebay auctions they advertise a return policy. Most will say returns accepted within 14 days, buyer pays for return shipping. I recently tried to use this return policy on an auction I won but was unsatisfied with once I received the item. I contacted the seller and he said he would not accept the return unless it was damaged, or not as described. He seemed to be describing ebay's money back guarantee which to me is a totally different policy. I contacted ebay. Apparently the return policy is between the buyer and seller and the decision to allow a specific return is totally up to the seller. I find this policy to be very confusing, misleading and worthless. So if you are looking at an auction with a 14 day return policy, don't count on that policy being enforced in any way.

Thanked: 498Wow that really surprises me. I always thought that eBay was always biased with the buyer more so then with the seller.
Just goes to show you gotta put in the time and read, look at every photo and scrutinize every single word and phrase and photograph. How many buyers pulled the trigger, not noticing the shipping costs at the time of bidding only to find out later an exorbitant shipping cost for no reason other then padding the bill. Been there done that.

Thanked: 634I sell on eBay and do what I can to make it right. I sold a razor once and the buyer said it was not shave ready. It was not sold as shave ready. I told him send it back and I will refund your money. He loved the razor and wanted to keep it. I had him send me the razor, honed it shave ready and sent it back. He is now one of my best buyers. Any decent seller on eBay should do what is necessary to make the buyer happy.

I have never had a problem with the return policy not to say that I never will tho. Any time I have had a problem with a razor it was usually because I wasn't paying attention or there was damage that wasn't apparent to the seller. I have had several sellers that simply refunded the money without me sending the razor back, needles to say, those sellers stay in my favorites list. One seller wanted me to send the lot of razors back when then package arrived missing a few items. I messaged him back and asked him to divide the purchase price by the number of original items and then just refund the difference for the missing razors, he did, he also sent the missing items later when they turned up and never asked me to pay for it.

It really surprised me. That is why I wanted to put it out there to let more people know. Sometimes it is hard to know the whole story just from pic and description. Sometimes I would be apprehensive on a purchase, but see that return policy knowing I could use that to return if needed. I would make the purchase with more confidence. This is the first time that I felt the need to use it only to discover it was an empty policy.

Nah, just return it. Get a tracking number, tell him you have returned it and give him the tracking number. If you don't get a refund after a few days of him receiving, contact ebay. At worst, you will be out the return shipping.
"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Many things are sold on Eboy. Razors are just one. If there is an issue most would probably give you a refund depending on the item. If I sold a watch to someone would I want them to wear the thing for 14 days and then tell me there is an issue or they don't like it and expect a refund? Much of this is a buyers remorse kind of thing.
You need to read and never assume cause you know what the first few letters in assume spell. Eboy pretty much guarantees you will receive the item or get a refund and the item will be what you paid for. Pretty much beyond that it's between you and the buyer and you can still file against the buyer if there is a valid issue. No matter how many men you kill you can't kill your successor-Emperor Nero
