Thanked: 104Another good thing for Newbies, if you get a razor on rspe7027, it is definitely shave ready. CERTAINLY! So if you are learning to hone you have a prime example of what 'sharp' is. I learnt to my current limit....lol by buying two Dovo Prima Klang str8ts. One was superbly honed by fellow member havachat45. Can't say enough as to his skill. The point being that a year ago, I got a sharp shave ready razor, a collection of naniwa hones & others, and I now have a dozen razors, and whilst I still have lots to learn I am comfortable to get any of my razors to shave readiness. I appreciate not everyone can afford to indulge their hobby like I do. (I can't justify it either!). Bare in mind, this took a year to get in the ballpark. It takes 3 months to learn how to shave with the things let alone master artisanship like honing. My advice, get a shave ready razor, so you know what you are trying to attain when honing.

Hi team - I'm new to this forum and have 2 of Ron's lovely razors. I have a friodur and a Heljestrand -they're beautiful, very shave ready and he's great to deal with.

I think Ron is one of few people that deserve to charge what he does for razors. Mint antiques, some with original wax paper wrap.
I've seen people trying to sell average condition 'dime a dozen' bengalls for $50! They think they are rare so they must be worth something. Not to mention the razors that are pretty much just a spine with a few jagged pieces remaining where there used to be a blade.
I'm waiting for Ron to get a hold of a nice big wedge, then it's game on......
I'm going to need a bigger bathroom

Thanked: 3Ron's prices are reasonable and he does not sell anything that still needs work done to it, i can vouch for that, they are either in good to excellent original condition or have been expertly restored and always very shave ready.
Also $50 for an average bengall is a bargain even if you spend $80-$100 restoring it and having it honed thats $150 at most in total and they will shave with the best of em.

I guess it depends on the definition of average. The bengalls I have bought all look too far gone to be worth restoring beyond a quick buff and polish before honing. $50 is too much for that when you can buy many other better condition razors, like the gotta 120 that sold yesterday for $54.

Thanks guys , I wondered about this seller seeing his wares in the States. Now I am following him based on your insights. Thank-you.
Your only as good as your last hone job.

Thanked: 3Well i wont comment on the Gotta because i have not seen it , but like all else in life you get what you pay for. At $54 it would hardly have been a gem at that price because they are a class razor. Neat n tidy shave ready Solingen razor at that price not likely.
