Thanked: 480Tom, the only "flaw" I see on my Filli is that the gold etching has been rubbed away. Of course, for some people that is a deal breaker!
Pixel, I DO post in the classifieds but I prefer to reserve the classifieds for entry level shave ready razors. There are always razors in there for 75-150 bucks, but the new guys who want to get their face wet are nervous about dropping that sort of money. So I like to post razors there in the 40-60 range. Its very possible I would have gotten more money listing it in the classifieds and waiting, but that requires both a wait, and a set price which puts it right back into the "whats it worth?" category.
Maybe I will get really lucky, and other dealers will buy my razor at a stupid high price just to prove how expensive their stock is! I mean Valuable, yea, that's the ticket, Valuable!

While I couldn't agree more with your general sentiment, I thought it was sort of common knowledge that low starting bids encourage lots of bidding as people think they might have a shot. But I understand that may not be the case.
And very often when looking at the bidding history of a high £€$ ending item, I see that there are two, maybe three high bidders in the end. Calling the outcome of two or three people with big wallets (or serious spending issues) 'True Market Value' is pushing it a bit, in my opinion. As I see it, it's just a different way of driving up the market.

Thanked: 480To me, "driving up the market" is when the supply is controlled so as to force up demand. To a certain extent, we all do that. Hell, in a way I am doing it right now. I see it all the time here on SRP. Somebody posts a razor in the forum, talks it up "AMAZING SHAVES from this!" blah blah. And within 24 hours that razor is up on the bay.
Or, when somebody posts a razor auction, and says "what about THIS one? is it a good deal?" Next thing you know, it has hundreds of people looing at it, and Ebay moves it into the "featured auction" and it gets even more advertising. Everybody sees it, so more people might bid on it.
And if you doubt the audience here on SRP can make that much of a difference, just look at this post. over 700 views already.
And on ebay it has gotten almost 3x as many views as the big Wade and Butcher I have up, even though W&B are one of the most highly searched razors on the bay.
Lots of ways to make a sale, lots of ways to promote, I just prefer the honest and old fashioned ways best. I gots it, here it is, go look at it. If you wants it GIVE ME YOUR MONEY!

TBH, Steve, We check in because we love you. Notsomuch your razzers! Chill out and enjoy! It's OK!
Nothing to be done with the Ebay thing. It always sorts it'self out."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.
