Yea, I have seen all the razors from Japan. But the great majority of them are either pitted, or have uneven wear (usually heavy toe wear) sometimes both. And the ones in better condition? those are the ones with price tags far higher than I believe them to be worth.

And if you look around, you will find that many of the recent imported blades are already finding their way back into the sales stream as people discover they were not as nice as they had expected

Totally agree - I've had one that was good, it was one of those NOS Filarmonica Sub Cero's, so can't really go wrong.

The other one, a Japanese Hidashi (??), sent it back, was terrible, the toe was 25% less than the heel, the tang was rusted, major hone wear, took about two months to send it back, get my money returned (he didn't take returns but said I would challenge, pics and description were misleading - period) and a week later it was back up for sale with the original listing and pics.

And Magpie is correct, you look at the blades that are in pristine condition - then the price is high, very high.

It's what the market will bare and of course who's looking. Good stuff goes for a good price. I do my share to make sure of that :<0)
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I think people that actually buy Razors, and have learned something, have finally realized that most of these prices are off the wall stupid.
The OPs will get to its actual fair pricepoint I think.

It will be interesting to see what the actual price point is. Its been a long while since a decent DT14 has been in a straight auction.
This one came in a lot that I bought a while back. 36 razors give or take. For which I was only interested in 4. This was one of the 4, but after parting out the rest of the pack, it only needs to sell for about 90 bucks to have paid for the other 3. I lose nothing if it goes cheap. I'm just trying to bring some sanity to the shave community, and give a chance for some of the newer guys to get a high quality razor at a decent price. As you all know, "decent" has become a rather subjective word though.

I have bought 5 razors from Japannippon and all 5 came better than expected. 3 were NOS never honed. Couldn't be happier
