I have a good solid BBW Coti. I spent the time to unlock it. Reading- rereading, everything you can imagine. Finally over time and trial and error I found what worked for this stone and my muscle memory.
Now I want a bigger better one.
Like a dog chasing his tail.
I you learn just one, and like they said "They all come from the same mine, Same year created for every last one.
Just because you dug it out whenever does not change its composition.
Remove the variables and focus on the tangible results.
Bigger isnt always better, just look at Americans waist lines, national debt, and increased immigrants.
Stick with the affordable one and unlock it.

1500 defeats the cost effectiveness of straight shaving. Gee, I thought my Naniwa's were "expensive"

Here was his reply to my question. Very similar to the previous.

Yes on price. I hone for pretty well known folk for over 50 years. Size n quality is why price is high. I think you'll have a tough time finding a natural cot this size. You r on right trac tho. A natural cot is great. You'll never need pastes n all the other crap. I would suggest you look for QUALITY in smaller size

I am serious about looking for a coticule, but I guess my main reason for contacting you about yours is to see if your price is a typo. Are you really asking $1500?

I have 3 jnats now, and I get edges on each one that blow any coti I've used out of the water. So for $1500 I'll just buy a custom straight, or two hehe.

It's a $900ish usd value imo. It's nice that is is cut rectangular, huge to a level you cannot acquire commercially, and has a thick coti layer, but just going on collectible freak show factor, it is a bit vanilla in appearance. If it were something nuts like an old rock and had the stamp on it and was a nat combo, he could name his price just because.... Or a huge les lat that was cut to rectangle and stable. Or green.... Or covered in crazy manganese inclusions... Or highly blushing..

If you could obviously tell it was a certain vein, it could play in as well. I wouldn't want 12" worth of La Grise at even a quarter of what he is asking... Something glassy and generally slow I can see some allure. Again, cotis are really not a hone to get above a certain size as it is an utter waste given how costs balloon. As far as the seller goes, I'm not going to rag on him. For all we know, his wife is forcing him to sell crap and he is just leaving it on there @1500 for show, or he doesn't really want to move it, or maybe that is just the value he can live with selling it at.... IDK... He's flat out telling you that you can get the experience smaller and cheaper in the communication, if anything it is stand up of him to admit that...

It's like an unbranded thuri gets the job done great for cheap and if you just want the edge, learn the tells and buy that. PPL who buy things like barber's delights in their box with the label for over $1000usd want the performance and they want the provenance for peace of mind and resale, but they are also collectors. I'd argue most ppl who spring for massive cotis are in that boat.
