Jury is in.. The Thiers-Issard had its maiden voyage this morning. Edge was right out of the box, about 60 laps on the fabric side of the strop and an additional 55-60 on an oil-tanned Russian leather.

Cream was Truefitt & Hill 1805-a true classic. Brush-a re knotted "Cling-Fast" antique (Finest Badger).

Verdict? Simply perfect. No issues at all. Blade was smooth and efficient. Very reminiscent of a coticule edge as opposed to a, say, J-Nat.

I'm thinking you guys are going to REALLY like this razor..

That is great to hear. Glad you had a great first shave.

I figured they would need honing a bit.

    Great news!!

Easy for me to say, but I received no communication until shipping confirmation either until yesterday afternoon. I think you should be okay.

I didn't see the thread until just a few days ago. It was out of stock, and now shows as $189.99 I was too slow...

    Usually what happens to me.

Mine is on the truck for delivery. Will test it tomorrow and hope I am as lucky as Phoenix51.

Mine arrived today. All I had time to do was to wipe off the oil and try a little tree topping on my arm. Seems to be pretty darn good for out of the box.

I will try just doing some extra laps when stropping and see how it feels. May have to wait til Friday as I have a plumber coming tomorrow morning.

Pretty happy with the deal and what I see so far.

Mine arrived today and after loupe exam and tests I'm satisfied. And after the 12 & 16k and strop, very satisfied. It's substantial and those scales are beefy. I thought it felt a bit heavy for a 6/8" which the box says but it measures like 7/8" ??? Anyway for the cost it's a good deal.
