It does look rather like silver solder. At first I thought it might be uneven honing, but it really looks as if there is a layer of 'stuff' on the edge.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I looked at the sellers other items and most of the antique straight razors had the same eerie edge on them. Some poor guy or gal will get sucked into buying them. What treasures....

Thanked: 98Being that I have used silver solder to the tune of many pounds, I'd say that is silver solder, why in Gawwds name WHY?? Greed? I think I'm starting to really HATE the GREEDY.

If you look at all of the seller's listings, you will see that most of the razors came from a collection. Many of them have old clear tape on the blades. I think what you are seeing is blade edge peeking out from behind some old worn cellophane tape.

Thanked: 98Yep, Mr. Chick is right, I have to take back from post #9 after looking closer, the edge on that razor has the silvery colored glue from Duct tape, the tape came off leaving the residue.
Most of the razors from that collection had the edges taped, various types were used.Last edited by FAL; 06-15-2016 at 11:25 PM.
