Yes I definitely want them John. Just not enough nickels and dimes in the piggy bank for that little purchase. That's an out of budget item for sure.

Maybe we should start an enabler’s forum.

No, wait, we already have several of them!

That's a great idea! Think I could get my wife on board? Maybe you could talk to her John. I'll be in the fallout shelter.

7 day sets were pretty common back in the day. Silver less so but certainly not like hen's teeth. This was probably bought in an upper end store ready made and the initials were inscribed. The amount of silver is probably not worth more than a few hundred bucks including the artwork.

    Outrageous asking price IMHO.

Based on what? What you think or remember that it ought to be worth back in whatever day you're stuck in? That house is worth what someone is willing to pay for it which is another way of saying it's worth what the market will bear. And that is also the case with basically everything else. Now, one thing about that set that does give a definable value is the silver itself. Hell, the scrap value of the silver alone, may be $1, 000.00.
Yeah. I remember when I was new to this hobby around 2006, You'd see NOS or mint vintage go sometimes for simple double digit numbers or just over 100. These days... not so much.

I would not be interested in them, personally. As far as sterling goes, the design is fairly bland.
The blades are Specials, so likely from the 20's I think. So they are marked sterling, but no hallmarks and it reads that some are electropencil marked?
Nice set, but about 175 each would be fair.

Also the font of the etchings is modern. And tbh kinda boring.
I've restored a Joseph Rodgers 7 day set that had much more ornate etching.

Some time ago some outfit was advertising a modern straight with some exotic scale material encrusted with gems and selling for thousands as I recall. it's still on one of the forums here. I'm too lazy to search for it.

There are some true works of art in 7 day sterling sets that were custom made. Most are either in museums or in private collections never to see the light of day.

Don't forget at one time gold sold for $35 per oz and silver for pennies an ounce so...
