I've probably purchased 100 or so items (at least) ranging up to $200-$300 on eBay and never had one problem. The first few purchases I admit I was very nervous, especially if it took some time for my item to arrive.
I do a thorough examination of the seller's feedback before I bid and maybe that's why I've been so lucky. Nowadays I really don't consider it to be much different than ordering something out of a catalog or any other online store.
But hey, that's me. My biggest reason to want to look for physical stores to go to in my area is the hope of a better deal and no bid sniping
