OK, so I thought the auction for the Filly was over when it wasn't, but that is still pretty low as Fillarmonicas go.

    How about this?

it's just the nature of marketplace - some razors sell for a lot, others for little and some don't sell at all.
there are way too many factors to account, so these things don't mean all that much.

    Because I didn't see it...

I mentioned this in another post but... here it is again (slightly reworded)

Buying straight razors can be frustrating for collectors/shavers/restorers.

Bill Ellis wrote an excellent guide for buying razors on eBay, I believe everyone interested should give it a read.
eBay Guides - Buying Straight Razors On Ebay

Though some things have changed since it was first published (2006) most of it is still relevant, but wouldn’t it be nice if experienced members in the SRP community, publish an “updated” {or i should say} an "extended" Razor Buying Guide.

This isn't a ridiculously low price, but I think it should have sold:

Ebay is strange. I got a mint C-Mon Blackie that had no bids and I was sure I would be out bid at the last minute. But to my surprise I was the only one to bid and got it for just a few dollars. The funny thing about that razor is how it was listed. The seller just put "antique straight razor" in the title. He had taken some good picks and I saw what it was right away.

Sometimes good stuff is just overlooked it seems

I don't know about you guys (maybe you search for a specific brand), but I search for "straight razor" or "cut throat" (as most people). If the title does not have the keyword "razor", it won't show up in the results.
Ebay is not google, this search engine is very dumb.

And also, Global ebay is not sectioned in categories like ebay.com is - there, one simply goes to the collectibles > shaving and browse the final moments of pertinent auctions.

Global ebay is a well intentioned hack.

Just a few days ago I saw the most beautiful le grelot, with a fancy spine, from Switzerland. If only it was more obvious, it could have been bid more. Try searching for keywords in other languages such as coupe choux, rassiermesser and even cuir à affiler, blaireaux, rasierpinsel... French and German ebays hold a few treasures.
