    Default why didn't this sell?

ANTIQUE WESTER BROS CLEAR CELLULOID HANDLE - eBay (item 200370037069 end time Aug-11-09 16:42:00 PDT)

I am trying to understand what is a good buy on eBay and what I should pass over. So, I was thinking of posting razors that either didn't sell or sold for less than I thought it would go for. Then ask for a discussion of the razors demerits.

If I were currently buying razors on ebay, I would have been willing to buy that because I know that Wester Bros. made quite good shaves. The blade looks fine and barely used. The rust seemed minimal and easily cleaned off. I suspect the main issue was the ugly scratched home-made scales. This razor would required rescaling, buffing/polishing, and honing. After all that, if it turned out fine, you could probably sell it for $40-$60 or keep it yourself.

I was thinking others could contribute. I have several potentials I am watching now.

Personally I needed a reason NOT to bid on every good deal I see.

both of those listings have been removed

At any rate, I have a Top Flight razor and it is a solid shaver. Not the best, but pretty darn good. Definitely worth snagging, considering their limited run.

    OK, I see them now.

They both look salvageable with minimal work. Perhaps the name is putting guys off? Ebay is weird.
