I really like the simple lines. Very nice.
I may be wrong now, but I was under the impression that TI craftmanship was a bit of a lottery. If they can keep the quality consistent even that would be one up on them.

I don't like gold wash and most etching. So I like the simplicity of these but I'm not paying that kind of money for one.

AFAIK, TI isn't exactly the pinnacle of consistency... And I'm a fan of something made here in the US, by craftsmen... I don't have the money for one right now, but I would rather like one of these. I think they will appeal highly to those who want a good razor as a tool, and appreciate the ideals this new line represents.

Thanked: 2591I am not sure that made in US entitles such an overhead. As far as I read, on B&B forum (big thread about those) Tim Zowada is the designer but he does not want his name on them, I wonder why?
Hereis a full quote taken from the other thread, bout some details on the razor,
That price might be justified for a production Zowada razor, except that TZ seems to be disavowing these razors saying that although he is project manager and trained the guys that are making the razors he doesn't consider them to be Zowada razors. And since they don't have his name on them anywhere it's fair that we shouldn't impute any of his reputation to these new razors. So what that leaves us with are some half-finished crudely-ground razors made with a pretty pedestrian steel, at a higher price point than the full hollow mirror polished razors from TI and Dovo.
While one might be a fan of quarter hollows (I'm not) or O1 steel (love the hardness but it's very rust-prone even for carbon steel) or matte finishes (harder to get clean, encourages rust) the fact remains that these are all attributes that minimise the skill level needed, and keep the cost low. And yet despite being less-well made than their competition from France(!?!) these razors are nearly as expensive as a full custom from Robert Williams, Bill Ellis, or Robert Chandler.Last edited by mainaman; 09-09-2009 at 05:47 PM.

Some people will buy them and review them and they will either stand or fall based on word of mouth.
The poster on the other forum who says they are nearly as costly as a custom from Bill Ellis, Joe Chandler or Robert Williams must not have bought one of those lately. At least assuming that the $250 price tag is accurate.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 132+1 to seeing an american straight razor, being made again.
Are these carbon or stainless steel?
