Well if you go into the bid history you can see that the SELLER cancelled the auction early and there were multiple bids made up to that point. The highest bid was over $115 before the seller, for whatever reason, pulled the auction.

If I'm not badly mistaken one of our members contacted the seller and made a deal. An offer he apparently couldn't refuse.

Ah, sneaky sneaky. From a seller's point of view, Ebay power sellers, etc will say that almost always, letting an auction run its course will yield a higher price than pulling an auction early and settling for an offer. Just a bit of trivia.

Yeah, there's usually a reason that someone is trying to get you to end the auction early and not let it run up its full price--unless the seller and the buyer go off ebay completely, then the seller saves the fees. Don't know how often that happens though.

I got mine for $100 and it is a good one. The thing is that these things have taken on legendary status when they are really no better than many other Solingen made razors. TBH I would rather have a Puma or a Bartmann with jimps and a 6/8 blade than a duck with no jimps and the skinny tangs. They hone up quick and they shave great but so do a lot of them.

Oh man thanks for bringing this up. Well I have a few Ducks (grim reaper, wonder edge, goldedge, satinedge...) but I also have a few that out-shaves all my ducks. And by a few I mean a lot. To start with all my customs.. livi, zowada, JC.. Every single one of them out-shaves my ducks. The same situation with my pumas. Also some of my TI's (the 1/4 grind le grelot), the Egyptian, the heck even the special coiffeur and some helje... I really don't get what is with the all the people bringing up the prices on the DD. One of my first razors was a pristine wonderedge that I paid through hell to get it thinking that I am getting the holly grail of razors and when I got some other razors in the $50 area that simply felt "better" I was so confused. Let me see who else dares to to speak about their DD....

That's just it. The Ducks, though they are quite easy to hone and do shave well, are not sought after for how they shave. They are collector's pieces. When you get to a point, the difference in how a razor shaves becomes more a matter of how the blade handles with respect to the shaver's preferences and what the shaver's technique is like... and how what the shaver sees while looking at the razor affects how he thinks the blade shaves.
