Just got a reply from the seller. He said that all he knows about the stone is in the description.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1212I too informed him politely about the mistake.
Might save the man trouble in the long run.
I assume he's sincere and the item was mislabeled in the past.

Thanked: 55This is an interesting question and I tend to agree with the guys that say it's not a coticule. But I'm also thinking that the guys from Ardennes may actually be able to settle this. Didn't Rob say that some grades of coticule are only suitable for tools? Since the description says it was found in a tool box there might be a slight chance that's the case. I can't say I've ever seen a coticule used for only tools, maybe they can look different?
I have to say though it really doesn't look like a coticule to me. I lean towards it being mislabeled in the past and it really being an Arkansas or something else. Interesting stuff none the less.
Regards,
EL
