Before you link to an active auction
THIS IS A POST AS A MEMBER, NOT A MOD. AS FAR AS I KNOW, THERE IS NO SITE POLICY ON THIS
Please, before you link to an active auction, think to yourself "If I knew my buddy wanted this item, would I make the thread?"
I'm sure there is no ill intent, but posting auctions increases visibility, which increases prices. Maybe you are not bidding, but someone else may be (unless its a 10k overhoned rust stick).
Just a friendly consideration, that's all.

Yeah, but what if I ask myself instead 'If my buddy is selling this item, would I make the thread?'
After all, if my buddy makes an extra $20 selling it due to the more visibility may be he'll buy me a thank you drink
No buyer buddy has ever done that, so I'm considering buddying up with the sellers now

My own personal feeling is active auctions should be absolutely verboten. If I had found something under the radar and there were few bidders and someone mentions it here and the price triples I would be very unhappy.

I agree!
I think if you've done the legwork and found something at a great price then it's really annoying when someone goes "wow look how cheap this Escher is lolz!!1!" and boots the price up to triple figures.
Price discussions before an auction ends are irrelevant anyway, because you have no idea how much something went for until the auction ends. Only then can you discuss how cheap/expensive something was.
Its happened to me a couple of times (both times with DD's weirdly) and it's annoyed the heck out of me both times.
Yep, please don't post to active auctions. If you want to discuss it, bung it in your watch list and link it after it closes.

I have been hit by this a couple times myself.
About a year ago, I was buying up basically all the NOS Filarmonica's I could find.
Every other auction ended up being posted here with all the oooh's and aaaaah's about how ridiculous the prices had gotten.
It seems much easier to join the choir in these ebay threads whenever the product is not of personal interest, yet some cry wolf when it affects personally
Personally, I say post about auctions if you will, but remember that the ones you are bidding on yourself, might wind up in here as well
The sellers must think it is a good thing though..Bjoernar
Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

Nope, in fact that's the sort of thing I think in a way SHOULD be posted, to make people aware of it and stop people getting caught out.
My two were a Goldedge and a Satinedge a while back, both in great condition. Unfortunately the price on both shot up well over $200 when they were linked!
