Thanked: 46Maybe I am stupid...maybe just do not understand English well????
Recently I sold straight razor on e-bay.
After few days I recive this message from buyer:
"I received the razor and seems well sharpened. The problem is that the honing wear is on the blade close to the edge and not the spine as you described in your listing. I have not looked at it magnified yet to see if the actual edge is worn.
In retrospect this wear does not appear clearly on your pictures either except for pictures 6 and 8 where you can suspect there might be some scratches (but again one cannot tell from the pics, it is only now that I look at it in person that I can see them).
I will look at it with magnification and probably shave once if it is safe and will get back to you. But clearly it was not described accurately."
So, anybody of you guys can explain to me what the heck this have to mean: "The problem is that the honing wear is on the blade close to the edge and not the spine as you described in your listing. I have not looked at it magnified yet to see if the actual edge is worn."
I have to say that I clerly said that hone wear on the spine is minimal but above is no word about hone wear at all.
Thx

Can you post the photos and text of the listing for us?
The buyer is referencing things that are specific to how you listed the item. If you can post the photos and listing text for us hopefully we can help you get it all sorted out.

I always like my hone wear on the spine instead of the edge ........ (would've preferred :rofl1: but it seems to be gone with the "upgrade")
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1587No idea I'm sorry. Perhaps you could ask the buyer to clarify what they are referring to?

Sounds to me like the buyer is new at this and doesn't understand that when we talk about "hone wear" it is usually referring to wear on the spine. Hone wear on the edge is better known as "the bevel" AFAIC. Unless of course there is overhoning visible to the naked eye.
EDIT; but you're right, considering the above, it could be a 'wavy bevel'.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
