I'm very much impressed by this collection, I appreciate that seller reduce price. If he make one more move down with the price I probably buy this collection.

Interesting. Maybe you could make him an offer or contact him directly via ebay.
Even if you ignore the collectability as well as the condition of the blades, at 400$ per set of scales that is a bargain.
If you don't believe me, ask someone with experience in custom high end scales (like Robert Williams) how much he would ask for a pair of MOP scales, or engraved bone, or sterling silver, or scrimshaw work...
My bet is that for some of those scales, 400 will not even be close to the price for having such scales made.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

It is evident that at this price nobody will buy. So, I would like to see next step of the seller. Another thing is to calculate customs clearance expences.
People on eBay pay 400-500 $ and more for different modern razors or honing stones. Why not pay good money for good collection. It is not only a beauty, but good investment also. I will definitely think it over.

Be careful with thinking about it as an investment.
Depending on the economy, it might take you a long time to find a buyer.
If you need money on short notice, you may have to sell the collection at a loss, just to get whatever money you can get.

Thanked: 4942When I started the first forum and there was basically no straight razor information to be had, John West who is one of these collectors, had over 3,000 razors like these and he was extremely helpful and had significant knowledge that helped us get the wetshaving movement going. His historical knowledge of makers and brands and scales was unbelievable. Some of these guys have a lifetime tied up into collecting these kinds of razors. To find the old, ornate MOP razors in the condition depicted is very hard and will definitely cost some bucks. Always has. And as stated, the silver and figurals and all the other fancies have never been cheap especially when found in nice condition.
Thanks Bruno.

I would not like to de-pin that blade
At least with horn, wood etc if you scuff the scales a bit, you can fix it so that it won't show.
With these scales you have no such luck.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
