Thanked: 247I know one member got his for fifteen bucks on a BIN from Ebay.
And another member who got his for "free" from his neighbor who knew he was into knives and razors.
Mine was fifteen bucks at a flea market.
So yes, you can absolutely afford one.
Nothing special about the razor that I can see, except it's fantastic style. But what do I know? Mine's only a tiny little 7/8. Maybe the other 3/8's of metal is where all the magic happens.

I think you are right. The funny thing is ..... for me anyway...... I like to shave with the smaller 5 and 6/8 blades better. I think the "meat choppers" look cool. Especially the Sheffield barber notched razors with horn scales.
There is something about shaving with a razor that is 150 to 200 years old. If it could only talk. A sense of history and romance. For me anyway. I've seen the prices go up and down. I did get one a 9/8 W&B with the "Celebrated Barber's Use" etch for $15.00 on a buy it now. I also got a tang stamped 9/8 W&B "For Barber's Use" for $80.00 in a regular ebay auction. Poor photos on the sellers part.
Here is one of the two aforementioned W&Bs and a 10/8 Joe Rodgers I got for $50.00 on a buy it now. The seller happened to be local so I corresponded with him and met him at a donut shop and paid for it with no shipping charge.

ive picked up the smaller blades at a good price , but like everyone else has said , the big blades are up there .... i cant even compete for one ... but like was also said i think it is so cool to shave with an OLD razor from era's where alot of historical events were goin on in this world !! honestly i have 3 brand new razors , ive only used 2 of the 3 and all though they shave fine , i enjoy the shave better knowing im using a blade that is 70-100+ years old and if i could start over again i would have only bought 1 new razor and used the $ from the othere 2 to buy more vintage blades !!

Thanked: 2027I saw a 9/8 in an antique store in placerville the other day,Guy wanted $700.00 for it.
I faked interest, ask to see it.Got the speel about how these things sell for well over a grand on E-bay all day.
Told the Guy, you know the blade has a crack near the heel,he said that with these razors thats not an issue,I have a jeweler friend that can silver solder it like new.
Think I will pass on it,The scales and washers were real nice.So he says, make me an offer, this sucker is really rare.I said, tell ya what,I will remove the blade, you can keep it,will give ya 35 bux for the scales,Deal? did not happen
