[QUOTE=gooser;1073924]Yea, it went quick and i knew it would. I will not disclose the dollar amount my wife was willing to spend on that razor- lets just say that razor had the potenital to have turned in to a major expense in my household- im glad it didnt get too crazy, though $227 is pretty insane. Then again my wife and i go out to dinner at black stones steak house once a year, (best porterhouse for 3 you'll ever have next to lugers) and the bill was $290+ tip. Lets just say i no longer possess the steak or knob creek manhattens.... I bet that w&b will oneday be a 400 yo razor.

you'll love me then to, ive been the bid just under yours on a few also ...lol..in a way i feel bad for the guys who have been getting them for years and used to pick these sought after blades up at a much lower cost , but i think more people are out there to try to turn a buck or collect then there is who like most of us wanna shave with a old razor with lots of meat on the bone and learn about its production date and the history behind it ....

funny how you have 3 guys on the same board with in a matter of moment who just a couple days ago where bidding on the same steel. any way now that i have mine (coming this xmas) you two can duke it out... wish we all could have had this convo before the bidding wars, then maybe we could have 'called' a razor so to speak to keep the prices down- lord knows there is no shortage!... while im on the ebay w&b topic btw did either of you see the w&b mr.quick civil war blade- what a fake provinonce. That gut ruined a total mint pair of scales faking some nonsense story and at the end i think her got like 170$$... who ever honed that razor made that edge with and ear to ear smile. didnt look good to me....

im not sure 2-300 for a 6/8 or 7/8 is a good price ever.. I hate when 'outsiders' of the wet-shave community google the razors they found at an estate sale, see that prime specimans sold at auction for top dollar and then attempt to sell that crap they found with as starting bid or bin at that top dollar amount. One guy has had an 8/8 w&b on the bay for months with a HUGE chip about 1/8 wide x 3/16 up. he goes on the say "it msut have been the guys fav razor because he still continued to shave with it even with a peas sized chip out of the blade".... HA! that chip would likely make your face look like freddy kruger got you by the time you were done with one pass. And it you were to hone it out you would be left with a 6/8 with a huge tang and an oversized barber's notch.

I did see that civil war one but i didnt bid. I was too busy winning other blades that have yet to show up. A 8/8 WM. Margraves and a tapered edge Greaves and son and now this 8/8 George Wostenholm. I wasn't bidding on the W&B though. Sometimes i just watch them for fun....lol
Nice looking WB. I still have it in my "watch" listLast edited by cheetahmeatpheonix; 12-17-2012 at 06:44 AM.
