Thanked: 2Wade & Butcher~9/8~Barbers Use~straight razor~shave ready~original horn scales
Hi,
I'm new on this site and I wonder if someone could give me some advise on the W&B on ebay (Wade Butcher 9 8 Barbers Use Straight Razor Shave Ready Original Horn Scales | eBay)?
I know the W&B is the one that everyone want to have but what about the price?
Tks in advance and good shave

Thanked: 1263The price is all in what you are willing to pay. If it appeals to you and you're willing to pay that much, then go for it. Personally, I got mine for far less than that, but it was a few years ago and the hype has grown even more since then.
And welcome to SRP

And just in case because of the fact that allot of people here collect them...try not to put up live auctions as links as well. Someone might just out bid you...just saying..
I know this one is a buy it now but principle still Applies.

Thats not a 9/8, its 17/16... If you watch the bay long enough you will find your barbers use razor (unrestored) for a very reasonable price.

Properly honed, that would be a *fantastic* shaver (apart from being shiny, it's pretty much identical to my best shaver) but as has been said only you can decide if it's worth that much to you. And Eric is bang-on. That's exactly how I found mine.
It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

Thanked: 67I have one of these (approximately the same size), and wouldn't pay that much for one. However, price is subjective and it's worth what you're willing to pay for it. If you're collecting these razors, then go ahead - just don't expect it to shave any better than a $20 vintage blade from a decent maker.
I've even had a 19/16" chopper in the past, and that was way too big for me. Big blades look cool, but I prefer 5/8" full hollows - preferably from makers that are not trendy.
As people have said - you'll find one of those large 'For Barbers Use' blades for less if you're willing to wait.

Yeah, everyone here is spot on. Price is very subjective. My WB FBU have been much lower, and on the same note I have seen some sell for more... But not much more.
Take you time, there is a lot of them out there. It's just corn syrup... Warm, blood flavored, corn syrup ...

just my two cents, I'm not really into Sheffield blades that are buffed to death like that one. Would probably still shave well but I doubt it was ever intended to look like that
