Shave #192.1 - Going to a Show

We're heading out to see Cloud Gate, a Taiwanese dance troupe, thought I'd grab a shave.

BBS. I'm seriously in love with the Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements after shave. It is extremely healing with a lovely little hit of menthol.

Shave #193 - Get Off the Stick

I have been pretty lazy about my shave routine since France. I'm hoping that I'll begin getting a bit more regular again soon.

I had one last new product to try from my wife's trip to Canada, so...

I picked up the Speick with the idea of using it as my new travel soap. I like the smell - it reminds me of something that I can't quite put my finger on. The performance seemed okay. It was my first time using a stick, and I ended up a bit light on the lather (my fault, not the soaps).I was really stretching it to do my normal 2.5 passes. Still, I managed a pleasant DFS.

So, this was my second go-round with the Speick stick. Today I got more lather, and I think the lather quality was a bit nicer (I did everything wetter). It worked well for me, and I had a beautiful 3-and-a-bit pass shave. I'm BBS. I will say, that the Speick has performed nicely both times I tried it, but the post-shave is quite drying for me. So, today I used a balm, which for most of the year I don't bother with and it has helped the feel.

I did 2 passes, without any extra clean up. I had a fair amount of growth, and hacked it down to about DFS-. Not bad, considering the growth. I find that if I shave daily, I can achieve a 2.5 pass BBS, otherwise I'm usually looking at something DFS-ish.

On a side note, it has been an interesting week, with the Taiwanese president meeting the Chinese president for the first time in over 60 years. Most people here are pretty PO'ed. Whatever the pair were hoping to achieve, it probably didn't work out so well for them.

I woke up to news of the large terrorist attack in Paris. It is wearying. Paris is probably my favorite city - very saddened.

I was running late for my Chinese class this morning, as I often am Friday morning, so I decided to combine two ablutions. I grabbed my DE and did an in-shower shave.

I just performed a quick 2-passer, flying blind, in the shower (no mirror). I actually got a pretty acceptable SAS. I wasn't expecting any better.

3 passes and a bit extra on the neck, and I'm a nice BBS. I really enjoyed the soap and aftershave today - it was a lovely experience. Lately, I've just been kind of sleepwalking through my shaves. Other aspects of my life are busy, and I haven't been as present while shaving as one might hope, but today was lovely.
